Friends of the Hartland Library 2012 BOOK SALE
Thanks to all our "Friends" members for making our annual used book sale such a huge success!
The librarians are thrilled that the Friends will again be able to fund this year's entire Summer Reading Program with prizes and educational entertainment programs. Last year over 1000 children participated in this program and kept the circulation desk hopping with all the books they checked out.
The Friends were also able to buy items on the librarians' "wish list" for the library.
Thanks so much for supporting our wonderful library!
What We Do
The Friends of the Hartland Library believe our public library is the heart of the community.
It is dedicated to enriching lives. The Friends believe the library helps satisfy the thirst for knowledge: from books with intricately woven stories to books with step-by-step procedures of how to fix a leaky faucet. The library also provides computers to link people to job opportunities or to do research online.
The Friends of the Hartland Library is a non-profit organization that supports the library. FOHL finances programs, books, DVDs, computers, and supplies not included in the annual library budget. FOHL has purchased an array of the following items over the years for the Hartland Public Library:
Children's Books
Books for Teens
Adult Fiction and Nonfiction Books
CDs
DVDs
Computer Tables
Tables and Chairs for the Children's Section
Annual Sponsorship of the Children's Summer Reading Program
(In the summer of 2010, about 1,000 children checked out 27,000 books,
enjoyed the programs, and participated for prizes during the 6 weeks of activities.)
